FAT STOCK SALES

PBICES AT WESTFEBLD BEEF REMAINS STEADY, FALL IN RATES FOR CALVES Rates for beef, which have risen 8s per 1001b. over the last two weeks, steadied at the Westfield fat stock sales yesterday, quotations for all classes remaining the same as at the previous sale. An extra heavy yarding of calves could not maintain last week's increases and prices cAsed, Values for pigs, sheep and lambs showed no appreciable alteration. , • • . ■ - •; The yarding of ox beef was smaller than last week, and competition was keen. Values were firm on late ratei, extra choice ox beef selling to. 39s per 1001b. Top price for steers was £ls 17s 6d, made by a line from Mr. J. Hannon, of Ohaupo. The best bid last week was £l6 10s. Oow» ranged to £l3 7s 6d, against £l3 10s at the last sale. Good Demand for Sheep A full entry of good quality sheep sold freely, both ewes and wethers generally equalling late rates. "Wethers sold to 375, although a particularly good pen last week realised 395. Ewes made to 275, compared with 28s 3d.
