AREA OF LINER'S LOSS PORT RESTRICTIONS AUCKLAND OPEN TO-DAY [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Thursday The sweeping up of a mine, tho second found since tho sinking of the Niagara yesterday morning, was announced to-day by the Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser. He said both mines had been found in the locality where the liner was lost. , Mr. Fraser said that, the port of Auckland would be reopened to-morrow as tho result of the work the minesweepers had done. Other ports would be reopened as goon as safety was assured. The Prime Minister added that these precautions were being taken to guard against further losses. The closing of the port of Auckland to all outward shipping over 500 tons imposed by the naval control authorities for 24 hours from noon on Wednesday was extended and remained in force during yesterday afternoon and last night. The action delayed the departure of a number of ships from the port. Similar restrictions adopted at other ports resulted in delays in the arrival of vessels at Auckland.
