HAMILTON TAXI FARES

INCREASE TO BE MADE An increase in tho fares of taxis operating in Hamilton will bo made within a week, according to the No. 1 Licensing Authority, Mr. E. J. Phelan, in an interview yesterday. Mr. Phelan added that the exact charges had not yet been fixed. Taxi fares in Hamilton are the lowest in the Dominion and at a recent sitting of the authority were described by Mr. Phelan as being "more like bus fares." The present charge is Is for tho first mile and 6d for each additional half-mile.
