NEW FLAME-THROWER ' USE AT LIEGE REPORTED (Received May 21, 5.35 p.m.) BERLIN, May 20 A flame - thrower generating 3600 degrees Fahrenheit—a third of the estimated surface solar temperature—was instrumental in capturing the Ebeneniael fortress at Liege. The weapon is directed against the apertures of gun barrels, and it is claimed that it renders the guns useless. FEAR OF CRITICISM NAZI LEADERS' DECREE (Received May 21, 5.35 p.m.) BERLIN, May 2<> The German Ministry of Defence has issued a decree, applicable not only to Germans living abroad but also to nationals of other countries, providing penalties "for malicious utterances against Nazism or against the Nazi leaders. "Any journalist in any country who at any time is guilty in this respect will bo severely punished." SPIES IN CABARETS EGYPTIAN PRECAUTIONS (Received May 21, 5.35 p.m.) CAIRO, May 20 The Egvptian Government has forbidden cabarets and other resorts to renew the contracts of nearly 500 Hungarian and Spanish dancers on the ground that they have possibly learned too much while entertaining Allied soldiers and sailors. The dancers, must leave before the end of the month.
