INTRUDER IN STORE
CAUGHT BY ARMED MAN LONG SERIES OF CRIMES [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] NELSON, Tuesday The story of how Mr. Ernest Clifford Wads worth, managing-director of E. C. and E. M. Wadsworth, Limited, Takaka, solved the mystery of goods disappearing from his store was revealed in the Takaka Police Court to-day, when Robert Darling Welsh, aged 32, a carrier, pleaded guilty to four charges of theft, one of breaking and entering Tilth intent to commit a crime and 21 of breaking and entering. The goods involved amounted to about £4OO. Wadsworth said he had waited on his firm's premises all night and had a rifle with him. At about 6 a.m. he heard someone getting in through a window. After the person came in witness switched on the light and demanded of the man that he put up his hands. He took the man to the Takaka police station. It was stated that the offerees extended over a period of four years. A considerable amount of the stolen property was found in the accused's house.
The accused was committed to the 6'iupreme Court in Wellington for sentence. ■
