AMATEUR PROGRAMME BOUTS HELD LAST EVENING The Auckland Boxing Association staged the first of its all-amateur suburban tourneys at the Loys Institute, Fonsonby, last evening before a capacity«house. An exhibition over three rounds was also given between Vic. Caltaux, New Zealand professional welter-weight champion, and D. Rollinson, amateur light-heavy-weight champion of Auckland. CONTEST ON MONDAY NEXT YOUNG CILDO MEETS CALTAUX The Auckland Boxing Association's next professional attraction will be Ihn meeting at tho Town Hall on Monday night between Vic. Caltaux, welter-weight champion of Xew Zealand, and Young Gildo, of Honolulu. Caltaux first came to the fore as a willing fighter, whose rough-and-ready tactics and unorthodox style appealed to that section of the sporting public who liked to see real action. During last season Caltaux proved on more than one occasion that he possessed boxing ability as well as fighting prowess, and he is now acknowledged to he a difficult fighter to beat. Oildo has demonstrated that he is fighting at the top of his form, and Aucklanders would like to see him really extended, and it is quite possible he will bo on this occasion. The amateur contests are being especially selected and it'is anticipated that the standard will be uniformly high. Once again all not profits are being donated to the Sports Queen section of the carnival being conducted in aid of the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund.
