NARVIK NOT BELIEVED TRANSPORTS CAPTURED REPORTED DEMAND ON SWEDEN By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON, May 19 A German attempt 'to relieve Narvik from the sea and Trondheim was repulsed. Alliqd warships captured or sank German transports. The Norwegians captured an important position jiear Narvik, closing another retreat against the Germans. , Reliable private advices received in .Washington from Europe state that German}' has made new demands on Sweden, including the right to transport troops across Sweden to reinforce Narvik. Sweden is considering, in the meantime, increasing her military preparations. THE EX-KAISER REPORTED AGREEMENT TO LIVE ON PRUSSIAN ESTATE LONDON. May 10 The Sunday Dispatch says that the ex-Kaiser is reported to have concluded an agreement with Hitler under which he will be permitted to return to Germany, and live on one of his Prussian estates on condition that lie keeps out of politics and makes no public appearance.
A detachment of Hitler's bodyguards has been sent to mount a guard of honour at Doom, Holland, where the ex-Kaiser is living. 'lt was reported that the Hohenzolleni family was anxious about him, and had sent a friend, General von Dommes, to look for him. The family received a message from General von Dommes, saying: "All's well!"
