KING'S AUTOGRAPH
REQUEST BY PRIVATE [from our own correspondent] LONDON. April 26 King George visited the Maple Leaf Club in Moreton Street, Victoria, this week. There Privato Frank Raffa, of tho Canadian Seaforth Highlanders, asked him to autograph a letter. "It would bo a great joy to my people back in Vancouver," ho said. "I am sorry I cannot do that, much as I would like to," replied the King, with a smile. "If I once started there would be no end." * "Well, sir, I hope you did not mind my asking," said the private, and the ■King answered: "Not at all; there's no harm in trying." The King was shown found the club —which is a 4 services institution for Canadians, run and maintained by the Canadian E-ed Cross. Ho signed a scroll of all the Provinces of Canada, which is autographed by every Canadian visiting the club. Choosing Nova Scotia, as the oldest Province of the Dominion, the King wrote, "Georg© R. 1.", under the signatures of a Canadian private sad ft
