OBITUARY
AGED ECONOMIST MR. 'J. A. HOBSON LONDON. April 1 The death has occurred of Mr. John Atkinson'Hobson , economist, at tho ago of 91. Born at Derby, Mr. Hobson was classical master at Favorsliam and Exeter fi;oin 1880 to 1887, and then for ten years lecturer in English literature and economics for the Oxford University Extension Delegacy and the London Society for the Extension of University • Teach i ng. Mr. Hobson. wrote extensively on economic and political questions, and in p, long series of books extending over about half a century he directed attention to the realities of unemployment and poverty, and waged war on social and political injustices. He did more than most men to influence progressive thought.. His greatest hope for the world was collective security, and ho denounced modern nationalism as "antihuman."
