SECOND ECHELON MEN
SOCIAL AT COROMANOEL An enjoyable dance was held in St. George's Hall, Coromandel, last week in honour of local members of the second echelon, Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. On behalf of the Coromandel residents, Mr. C. C. Rao. county chairman, presented each guest of honour with an inscribed cigarette case. The presentation of a pencil each was made by Mr. Preece on behalf of the Coromandel branch of the Women s Division of the Farmers' Union. Mr. J. H. Lucas spoke on behalf of the local branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association. Mr. R. Peters and Mr. G. J. I'arlect. mem hers of the second echelon and also the Loval Hauraki Lodge, Manchester Unity independent Order of Oddlollpws, were honoured at th«s conclusion of a recent meeting of the lodge. Oil this occasion the two members received the gift of a shaving brush each Irom Mr. T. H. Barrett, the oldest member, on bolialf of his colleagues.
