SHIPPING CONGESTION
POSITION AT GREYMOUTH [nv TKr.KGRAI'H—OWN CORRESPONDENT] GREYMOUTH, Friday The presence of six vessels in port resulted in congestion and a shortage of berthage space in Greymouth this morning. Delays to shipping through the floods at the end of last month, the Easter holidays, and the shortage of coal waggons all contributed to the congestion, and it was impossible to work several of the vessels this morning. The Kartigi arrived early this morn« ing with a cargo from Wellington, hut with the number of vessels in port there was not sufficient labour available for lier to commence discharge until the despatch of the Kiwitea this afternoon. To relieve the position, it was decided to despatch the Kiwitea short-loaded, and the Holmloa is due on Monday to take the balance of the coal to Wellington. The departure of . the Kiwitea will also enable the. Titoki to secure a berth, none being available for her on her arrival tiiis morning.
