BABY BOY DROWNED
BODY FOUND IN TROUGH YOUNGEST OF FAMILY OF EIGHT [ll'.OM orn OWN CORltksponpknt] WAIUKU, Thursday, A boy aged 16 months. Bryan Harper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Percy Harper. of Bald Hill. Pukeoware. was found drowned in a water trough near his parents' residence about 9..'50 o'clock this morning. When the boy was missing from the house, a sister aged four went to call him and found him in the trough, which is used for watering cattle. An elder sister, aged 11. lifted the child out and carried him into the house. However, he was dead. Bryan was the youngest of a family of eight. At an inquest held later in the day, the district coroner, Mr. C. K. Lawrie, returned a verdict of accidental drowning. CAPSIZE OF BOAT MARRIED MAN LOSES LIFE [by TELEGRAPH—rRKSS association] DUNEDIN, Thursday A fatality occurred at the AustralNew Zealand Mining Company's dredge at Lowhurn at about 2.15 p.m. to-day. A boat in which four men were attending to lines from the dredge capsized and a married man. Mr. William Campbell, aged SS, of Cromwell, was drowned. The body was later recovered by the police.
