UNIVERSAL BENEFIT METHOD OF APPLICATION SIMPLE SYSTEM ADOPTED Application forms for the universal superannuation which is to be introduced on April I have npw been distributed among registrars and district agents of the Social Security Department. Already a lew forms, mostly from outlying areas, have been completed and forwarded to the department's office in Auckland, but so far they have not been released for general circulation among intending beneficiaries. The superannuation is available to every person-oi Go years or more, providing they have been resident in the Dominion for the past 10 years. However, no person'is entitled to two benefits under the Social Security Act. and consequently old-age pensioners, already in receipt of the full amount to which they are entitled, will not secure additional payments under the superannuation scheme. The amount of the superannuation this year will be CIO. The method of payment has yet to be announced, but it is thought probable that, on account of the sum involved, it will be distributed in quarterly amounts. No complicated details are sought in the application forms, which are not likely to cause difficulties lor genuine beneliciaries. Date and place of birth are required, and it is stated that a certificate of birth or marriage or some other documentary evidence should be produced, if it is available, to substantiate the statement. The names oi two persons, other than relatives, are also required to verify an applicant's residence in Xew Zealand for the prescribed period. Where continuous residence has been interrupted by any absences from the country during the past 10 years, precise details are required oil the application form.
