Superintendent Lopdell joined the police department iti.'Wellington as a constable in If>ol, anil four years later was transferred to D'anedin. He served later at Balelutha, , Qiieenstown and New Brighton, and in 1916 was made a sergeant. He was later stationed in Christchurch, Wellington and Te Kuiti. Attaining the rank ,of senior-sergeant in 1921, he served 311 Wanganui for seven years before returning to Wellington as chief dete t'tive. He became sub-inspector in 1930' and inspector in 19132, when he took cl Large of the Westland district. For tlie last six years he has been inspector? at Hamilton.
