A large caterpillar tractor, fitted with a double drum winch, is employed to pull the willows out by the roots. The work will extend over' 17 miles of the river's length. The blockage caused by the willows lias resulted in the land in the vicinity becoming waterlogged and sour and in frequent flooding.
