ROXY AND TIVOLI THEATRES A rousing drama of thfl West, "The 'Cisco Kid and the Lady," which will head tho splendid now double-feature programme at the Roxy and Tivoli Theatres to-dav, presents Cesar Romero in the title role for tlie first time. Marjorie Weaver and Virginia Field are the leading actresses in this romantic and fnst-movng 20th Century-Fox production. A woman of the side-shows who knew men only as grasping, scheming tyrants is the central character in the associate feature, "Mother By Proxy." Lyle Talhot, Wynne Gibson and Walter Able plav the leading roles with rare dramatic insight. CIVIC THEATRE Harpo. Chieo and Groucho Marx arc the central figures of the rollicking farce "At the Circus," the main attraction at the Civic Theatre to-day. In contrast to the boisterous humour of the popular brothers Kenny Baker and Florence Rice are heard in a number of lilting modern tunes. A varied associate programme also is being shown, the outstanding feature being "The Busy Little Bears." RECENT THEATRE "Beau Geste," Paramount's realistic adaptation of Percival Wren's famous novel, is to continue a very popular season at the Regent Theatre to-day. ST. JAMES' THEAIRE Mickey Roonev and Judy Garland are the youthful principals in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's brilliant musical extravaganza "Babes in Arms," which is to be shown again to-day at St. James' Theatre. An appealing story follows the efforts of sons and daughters of old vaudeville favourites ' to re-establish the popularity of the legitimate theatre. PLAZA THEATRE An absorbing drama of conflicting personalities brought together during a catastrophic visitation of flood, earthquake and fire in a remote district of India, "The Rains Came" will bead to-day's programme at the Plaza Theatre. Myrna Loy and Tyrone Power are the chief players. MAJESTIC THEATRE "British Intelligence" and "Mutiny in the Big House" are the dramatic pictures comprising to-day's programme at the Majestic Theatre. Boris Karloff and Margaret Lindsay appear in the first attraction. The engaging year-old baby Sandy is supported by a brilliant cast in tlie light-hearted film "Little Accident," which is to head the new programme at the theatre on Friday. For the most part promising younger players, they include Lew Ayres, Lana Turner, Tom Brown, Jane Bryan, Hugh Herbert, Anita Louise, Marsha Hunt, Ann Rutherford, Joy Hodges and Florence Rice. Lana Turner also has a leading part in the comedy-drama "These Glamour Girls," _ the programme's second feature, which has been highly praised by eminent critics overseas. CENTURY THEATRE

Reconstructing scenes from the wellremembered "Keystone Cop" farces, "custard-pie" comedies and melodramas in winch fierce, moustached villains plaved their dastardly part, the colourful'2oth Century-Fox film "Hollywood Cavalcade" will continue a highlysuccessful season at the Century -Theatre to-day. Not only does this film revive memories of the earliest productions, but it reveals some of the enterprise, hard work and ingenuity with which the pioneer directors and financiers of motion pictures established the enduring popularity and fame of Hollywood. Alice Faye and Don Amcche are excellent in the leading parts, while they are very capably supported by J. Edward Bromberg, Stuart Erwin and the former wellknown comedian Buster Kcaton. Glorious teclinicolour marking the latest achievement in the art of photography is used throughout the film. Lupe Velez, Leon Errol and Cecil Kellaway are three popular players who head the cast of the second attraction, the racy comedy "Mexican Spitfire." EMBASSY THEATRE Twice winner of the Academy Award Bette Davis is responsible for one of i her most pleasing portrayals in "Dark | Victory," the current, attraction at the ] Embassy Theatre. There is a strong | supporting cast STRANd THEATRE The accomplished acting of the large cast ensures the success of the film version of the provocative comedy "The Women." which is at present being shown at the Strand Theatre. Prominent plavers are Norma Shearer, Rosalind Russell, Joan Crawford and Mary Boland. OXFORD THEATRE Filmed in vivid teclinicolour the sparkling comedv "Over the Moon" will he shown to-day at the Oxford Theatre. Merle Obcron fills the main role.
