MOTOR-CAR STRIKES POLE ACCIDENT NEAR NELSON [by tklkohafh —press association] /"KELSON, Friday A young woman was killed and two other passengers were admitted to hospital. one in a serious condition, as a result of a oar running into a telegraph pole at Wakatu, on the main Stoke-Nelson road, at 1 .-'3O o'clock this morning. The victims were: KlLT'l-'D Miss Nancy O'Sullivan, aged 20. of ,Nile Street. Nelson, killed instantly. Injured Mr. John Sutherland Howard, aged 22, of South Street. Nelson, severe head injuries and a compound fracture of the leg. Condition serious. Miss Smith, of Nelson, injuries to the shoulder. Admitted to hospital. Miss Sadie Howard and Mr. James O'Brien suffered minor injuries. The car was returning to Nelson from the country and was driven by Mr. Alan Brake, of Nelson. The side of the car struck a telegraph post, which snapped in two places. The vehicle went through the hedge, struck a tree and returned to the road, where it turned over on its side, lhe vehicle was wrecked.
