AWAPUNI GALLOPS LAUGHING LASS IN FORM [FROM OUR OWN COHUKSI'ONtcCN : J PALMERSTON NORTH, Monday Awapuni stables will be represented by four horses in the Thomson Handicap at Trentham, namely, Old Bill, Beaupartir, Laughing Lass and Haeburn. They were given their semi-final gallops on Saturday morning and performed most satisfactorily. The gallops took place on the plough, which was in good order without being fast. Laughing Lass (D. Redstone) ran seven furlongs in 1..11, the first five in 1..", and last lour in sls. Royal Sign (J. Pratt) was to have picked her up at the four, but was slow getting away and Laughing Lass was steadied until he drew level, Laughing Lass finishing half a length in front. Beaupartir (F. Buchanan) and Raeburn (K. Harris) galloped seven furlongs, the pace being on from the outset and the first halfinilo run in Ift -l-ss. Beaupartir, on the inner, gained an early advantage, and, although Raeburn was with liini at the end of four furlongs, drow out toward the finish, to be just over a lengtlr in front. It was a fine trial and Beaupartir worked with more dash than for a long time. B. H. Morris is to ride him in the Thompson Handicap. Old Bill (M. Howdon) and Moradabad (E. Bakor) covered six furlongs in l.lt). Old Bill, who was going comfortably at (he finish, is very fit and can be depended upon to give a good account of himself on Thursday. Moradabad also pleased and it is possible her gallop was the best she has done on the track. On the course proper Lambourn was not timed over three furlongs, but finished well. Chary, not usually a good track worker, covered the; same ground in :$7 2-ss. Oragon (Buchanan) was going very fast at the finish to lecord similar time. Flammarion (C. B. Goulsbro) went well over six furlongs in 1.17, the last three in .'!7s. He is an acceptor for the Railway Handicap at Trentham and with 7.10 in the saddle should race well. Hillcrest (Buchanan), after beginning slowly, was going well at the finish tp run seven furlongs in 1..'t0, the last three in 38 :i-ss.
