FIFTY YEARS AGO

EXAMINATION RESULTS Almost every year complaints are beard alleging undue delay in the publication of results of examinations conducted by the University of New Zealand. The same complaint was made 50 years ago, according to the following extract from the Nkw Zealand Herald of March 12, 1890: " Undergraduates of the New Zealand University have serious ground for complaint against that institution on account of the delay which takes place in making known the result of the . degree examinations. Although these were finished on November 28 of last year, it ;s only now, after an interval of more than three months, that the results have been unofficially communicated to the candidates. The official and public announcement will not be made for some" five or six weeks yet. The vexatious delay is caused by' the examination papers being sent to examiners residing in England."
