HELP IN CAMPAIGN TOUR BY MR. HAMILTON UNITY IN THE WAR EFFORT [nr TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION*] WELLINGTON, Sunday A recruiting campaign tour is to be undertaken during tlie coming fortnight bv the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. A. Hamilton, on behalf of the National Recruiting Council, Addresses are to be given by Mr. Hamilton in both the North and South Island. 1 he unity of the political parties in the war effort will be demonstrated by the appearance of Mr. Hamilton on the platform with the deputy-Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Frascr, at a recruiting meeting in Wanganui on Wednesday night. This will be Mr. Hamilton's only appearance with Mr. Fraser in the presont northern campaign. Mr. Hamilton will speak at public meetings at Waipukurau on Thursday and at Masterton on Friday. He will also speak in support of the war effort at mid-day meetings of National Party supporters in Marton and Woodville on Thursday and Friday respectively. Mr. Hamilton will return to Wellington on Saturday, going south that night for a series of meetings the following week in the South Island. Public recruiting meetings will be addressed by Mr. Hamilton at Greyinouth on March 18. Westport on March 19 and Ashburton on March 20.
HON. P. FRASER'S TOUR ADDRESS IN NELSON [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION"] NELSON, Saturday Urging the mobilisation of all the Dominion's resources for the maximum effort in the present war. the deputyPrime Minister. Hon. P. Fraser, visited Nelson last evening in continuation of a Dominion-wide campaign. A feature of the rally was the fact that most of the territorials at present in annual camp at Tapawera, came a distance of 40 miles by train to attend the rally, and returned at midnight. Other speakers were Major-General .T. E. Duigan. Chief of the General Staff, Mr. E. R. Neale. deputy-mayor, and Mr. F. V. Powell, chairman of the local recruiting committee.
NORTH AUCKLAND RECRUITS EUROPEANS AND MAORIS [from our own correspondent] WHANGAKEI, Sunday In North Auckland there have been 2232 enlistments for the Expeditionary Force. Of these 1495 are Europeans and 737 Maoris. There have been 728 Europeans and 267 Maoris sent to camp, while 286 Europeans and 62 Maoris are awaiting despatch. Europeans who have been classed as fit number 1106. Ill'temporarily unfit and 103 permanently unfit. Fit men withdrawn number 92, _ while 162 are awaiting medical examination. Of the Maoris examined, 360 have been classed as fit, 03 as temporarily nnfit and 62 as permanently unfit. Forty enlistments have been withdrawn, while 213 men are awaiting medical examination.
