CATHEDRAL WEDDING

HALSTEAD—STEWART BRIDE WEARS SATIN GOWN four attendants in chiffon Pink and blue flowers made a charming background for the white frocks worn by the bride and her bridesmaids at St. Mary's Cathedral. Parnell. on Saturday evening, when Miss Millicent Joan Stewart, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. D. B. Stewart, of >\ airua Road, Remuera, was married to Lieutenant Eric Henry Halstead, only son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Halstead. of Lawrence Street, Heme Bay. Ihe ceremony wns performed by the Very Rev. Dean W. Fancourt. - A beautiful gown of heavy pearl slipper satin was worn by the bride, vvho was given away by her father. From a Vandyke pointed waistline the skirt moulded her figure in front, the fullness being concentrated at the back, where it fell into a long, pointed train, The bodice, which was fully gathered from the point of the heartshaped neckline, was finished with a row of tiny buttons from the back of the neck to the hips, and the long sleeves, which were pointed over the hands, were built high at the shoulderline. Her circular veil of white tulle, which she wore over her face as she entered the church, was caught with a pointed halo worked in a design of orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf of Philippinense Formosanum lilies. The Four Attendants The four bridesmaids, Miss Sybil Stewart (sister of the bride), Miss Joyce Halstead (sister of the bridegroom), Miss Pat Harper and Miss Barbara Court, wore graceful frocks of white chiffon over taffetas. From gauged bodices, which fitted closely to the hips, the skirts flared fully to the ground. Heart-shaped necklines and short sleeves built high at the shoulderline finished each corsage. On their heads they wore tiaras of shaded blue delphiniums, and they carried armlet bouquets of the same flowers. In attendance on the bridegroom were Mr. Lindsay Drummond. as best man. and Lieutenant J. Carnachan, Lieutenant J. Pvbus and Second-Lieu-tenant K. Turtill, as groomsmen. Mr. Murray Court and Mr. Milton Mabee acted as ushers at the church. Reception at Remuera After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, where pink and blue flowers were again used to decorate the reception rooms. Mrs. Stewart received her guests wearing a graceful frock of dove grey sheer and a small grey hat edged with flowers to match her bouquet, which was of cyclamen shaded asters and blue delphiniums. Mrs. Halstead's

frock was of duck egg blue jersey silk. With this she wore a smart toque of brown velvet and felt, and she carried a bouquet of autumn tinted roses. The bride travelled in a teal blue frock of wool georgette, trimmed with black velvet, a fur coat, and wine accessories.

CEREMONY AT EPSOM WEST ALL—LEACH St. George's Anglican Church. Epsom, was charmingly decorated on Saturday afternoon when Miss Rita Elizabeth Leach, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Leach. Fairview, Wellsford, was married to Mr. Shadrach Westall, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Westall. of Horse I Hill Farm, Burnley. Lancashire, EngI land. The Rev. J. L. Litt officiated. 1 The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a period gown of white crinkled satin imprinted with a design of tuberoses. The bodice was gauged, with long sleeves, and the skirt fitted tightly to the hips after which it fell in full gored folds to form a short train. The veil of handstiffened lace, which was worn over the bride's face as she entered the church, was mounted with tulle to a coronet of orange blossoms and tuberoses. A bouquet of tuberoses and white cactus dahlias was carried. The bridesmaids, Miss Zoe Richards and Miss Maude Hoyle, were in frocks of Picardy-toned stiffened net mounted on taffeta with bouffant skirts circled with bands of mettaline ribbon. They wure short veils caught to their hair with circlets of delphiniums and each carried a sheaf of Pieardy gladioli and blue delphiniums. Mr. D. Aslnvorth best man and Mr W. Barnard was groomsman. Acting as ushers were Mr W. Reed Edge and Mr. Hugh Fleming. During "the wedding ceremony a solo was sung by Miss .Jessie was afterward held at the Parnell Park Kiosk where _ Mrs. Leach received her guests wearing a navv satin cloque ensemble and a hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of begonias and red cactus dahlias Assisting her was the brides sister. Mrs. William Bell, who wore a frock ol' Napoleon blue lace and taffeta with a matching picture hat.
