MIDGET CAR RACES
THRILLING CONTESTS CENTENNIAL CHAMPIONSHIP F. BREWER WINS OVER 15 LAPS Kxciting racing characterised the midget car and motor-cycle events held at "Western Springs Stadium on Saturday night. Many thrills were provided in the midget car contests. The attendance was about 'IOOO.
The principal event of the evening was the New Zealand Centennial championship, which drew 14 starters. Tlio race was contested over 15 laps and is believed to be the longest yet hold for midget cars on the Western Springs track. After n particularly keen contest F. Brewer gained the verdict by a small margin, while the second and third cars, driven by B. Boycroft and .M. Hughes, also were separated by a short distance. The race was a test not only for the drivers, but also for the cars, and the fact that the majority crossed the finishing line was a tribute to the work of the mechanics. The winner received a trophy donated bv .Mr. X. H. Dixon and a championship sash. Following were the results:
