NEW ZEALAND SEEVICE CLAIM BY LOS ANGELES CONTROVERSY CAUSES DELAY By Telegraph—Presn Association —Copyright WASHINGTON, March 7 The decision of the Civil Aeronautics Authority regarding the commencement of the Pan American Airways service to New Zealand has been delayed at least until the public hearing on March 14 of the Los Angeles city's complaint against the proposed route. Lo.s Angeles wishes the aeroplanes to touch that city, although the proposed United States terminal is near San Francisco. Civic pride and port rivalries are involved. Los Angeles is seeking to revise the official examiner's report, the approval of which is the final authorisation for Pan American Airways to start the service. The report disapproved the route going through Los Angeles because it was considered unnecessary to maintain terminal facilities there in view of the hourly airway connections with San Francisco.

Australia and New Zealand, a weekly service across the lasman would be Started in April, thus linking New Zealand with the Empire air route. The resumption of the successful North Atlantic service depended on military needs, but difficulties so far preventing a regular service to Lisbon would, he hoped, shortly be overcome.
