COALITION SCHEME

AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT ADOPTION ALMOST CERTAIN PARTY ENDORSEMENT AWAITED f!' _____ MELBOURNE, March 8 Although a Coalition Government has riot actually come into being, one is almost certain to be formed, following the conference held last night between the Prime Minister, Mr. R. G. Menzies, and the leader of the Country Party, Mr. A. Cameron. The proposal for a composite Ministry was discussed at the conference, •which was held with the object of averting a political crisis. Mr. Menzies offered five places in the Cabinet, including three full portfolios, to the Country Party. His offer is being submitted to a full meeting of the Country Party, to be held next week. It is generally expected that the Country Party, in spite of the antagonism of son'ie members to joining a Ministry led b'V Mr. Menzies, will be prepared to endorse the general principles on which the two leaders have agreed.
