SUNRISE

T)EAR ANNE SHIRLEY, —In this letter I am going to tell you of a beautiful sunrise I watched last week. Not a sound stirred the keen grey morn and all was grey. The stars were still twinkling dimly in the blue sky. Suddenly the first tint of dawn streaked up from the eastern horizon to be followed by others, which gradually turned the sapphire sky to pink. Then a dog began to bark as a neighbour was. bringing in his cows to be milked, while the cows all started mooing loudly in the keen, biting air. Gradually the air became warmer and then, on looking eastward, we saw the rim of a huge ball of fire slowly rising above the eastern horizon drowning the world in the warm, golden rays and starting another of our joyful summer days.—From your loyal member, Da\id* Havill (12), Pokeuo.
