BETTING FACILITIES ELLERSLIE TOTALISATOR Concerning the bettin<: arraneemonts at Kllerslie. "l?iirecorr" writrs ns follows: —"l.<t It not a fact tlml the Xrw Zealand Itncinir Conference passed a resolution that all totalizator dividends are to he shown in CI fliiutk at nil meetinprsV Now, how is it that a mrlrnfiolitnn body like tlio Auckland li'acing Chili can defy (lie rule, as on the 'Hill' they are shown in 10s shares? Also why does it not have :i window selling CI tickets on the 'Hill,' so that when investors can have n chance when investing a pound of getting the extra, sixprnro, which often is paid on il tickets?"

When the letter of "I'acruroer" was referred to Mr. \V. S, .Spruce, secretary of the Auckland Pacing C'luli, he stated that dividends at LI rates were shown on the number board at F.Hcralie and for the convenienie of small bettors at Ids rales on the "Hill" and in the Derby and Lecrer enclosures. Business ilid not warrant tlio installation of expensive machinery necessary to provide CI bettincr in the outside enclosure In fact, to meet the increasing number of small bettors, the Auckland Uncinsr Club some time, hack reduced the number of .01 machines in the lawn enclosure and increased those of If is units.
