HAMILTON RED CROSS
MERGER SCHEME OPPOSED BUILDING LENT AS DEPOT [FROM OtTR OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAMILTON, Tbnrsday The proposed inclusion of the Waikato and King Country district under the control of the Auckland Provincial Committee of the Red Cross Society was strongly opposed at a meeting of the Hamilton branch of the Red Cross Society.' Members declared that with the inclusion of the Waikato and King Country district the area would be too large to be easily handled. A resolution was carried expressing opposition to the proposal and a desire for the district to remain under separate control. An offer of a new building in Ward Street, Hamilton, for use as a depot for Red Cross work was received from Mr. R. R. Hollinger. The building will be available to the society, free of rent, for the duration of the war. The offer was accepted by the branch and Mr. Hollinger was thanked for his generosity. Arrangements for furnishing the depot were discussed and it was stated that the building would probably be furnished and fitted at no cost to the society, as tho result of donations of timber and other material.
