35 YEARS' SERVICE

AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT RETIREMENT OF OFFICER [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Friday After 35 years' service on the clerical staff of the Department of Agriculture, Mr. H. G. Absolum, of the Hamilton office, retired yesterday. Before coming to Hamilton, where he has been a member of the staff for the past 20 years, Mr. Absolum was stationed at Auckland, Hastings, Napier, Wanganui and Wellington. In his younger days Mr. Absolum was a well-known Rugby player and he has always taken a keen interest in the game. An experienced shooter in the Waikato district, he has also been interested in acclimatisation work. A presentation of a wallet was made, to Mr. Absolum yesterday by Mr. A. W. Storey, on behalf of'the staff.
