DELIGHTFUL TALE
MISS STELLA GIBBONS TT is a long stride from "Cold Comfort Farm," considered by many the best parody of the present day, to the undiluted romance of "My American." but in whatever mood Miss Stella Gibbons is delightful. One approaches any now hook by her with excitement, which is more than ran be said of many authors. Miss Gibbons has extended her field of observation to a township in tho United States, and there is an air of authenticity about her sketch of an American family, in wilicli the most likeable member is caught up in some gangster activities. "My American" is about a lonely little girl who meets a nice American boy for a fugitive moment at the entrance to Kenwood, in England. For 10 years they go their separate way thousands of miles apart; then, when she is a famous writer and be is in great trouble, they meet again to fall into each other's arms. In the manner of "Tho Brushwood Boy" they recognise in each other the dream person. The story is packed full of rich and amusing characterisation. "My American," by Stella Gibbons. (Long mans.)
