OFFENCE ADMITTED
CLOSED WHARF ENTERED A charge of entering a closed wharf without permission was preferred against Roy McGregor when he appeared on summons before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. Defendant pleaded that he Vas "technically" guilty. Sub-Inspector Pender said defendant, in order to gain admission to a city wharf after 6 p.m. on January 28,.had used a seaman's pass given to him tlirougji the wharf fence. When signing it in the name of the owner, defendant used a wrong initial. On checking the pass, the Harbour Board gatekeeper became suspicious and informed the police. When interviewed defendant admitted the offence. Defendant said he realised he had committed a foolish action and would not have done so if he had realised how serious it was. The magistrate entered a conviction and ordered defendant to pay costs, K3s.
