THE CITY VALUER
MR. P. F. NOTLEY RETIRES The retirement of Mr. 3'. T". Notley from the positions of City Valuer arid returning officer, after 36 years in the service of the Auckland City Council, took effect yesterday. After serving :in the South African War with the Royal Engineers, Mr. Notley joined the city traffic staff in 1903. He took part in the Great War and on demobilisation was made Citv Valuer in L 919 and returning officer a year later. At a gathering yesterday afternoon Mr. Notley was presented, with a set of pipes by Mr. N. K. Kenny, assistantCity Valuer, on behalf of the staff of the department. Mr. Kenny spoke of the happy relations that had existed between Mr. Notley and his staff and their regret at his departure. Mr. Notley expressed a similar regret find his gratitude to the staff for theiT loyal co-operation.
