MAIN TRUNK TRAFFIC
APPROACHING NORMAL HOPES FOR USUAL SCHEDULES The conditions on the Main Trunk railway line, where the slips occurred last week-end, are showing an improvement and it is expected that the expresses between Auckland and Wellington will again be running to timetable to-day. The 3 p.m. express from Wellington arrived minutes late yesterday morning, while the limited express was 49 minutes behind schedule. Speed restrictions over the damaged section of the line will st ll have to be observed, but the delay on the whole trip is not expected to be sjreat. Since the week-end conditions on the line have made it necessary to run. •loods trains on the section from Taumarunui to Onakune on y between 6i p.m. and 6 a.m., trains from Auckland which normally ran dur.ng the day being held at Taumarunui until the evening. It is hoped that, from to-day, these services will resumo their usual, schedule. Owing to the state of the line near Stratford, trains serving New Plymouth will continue to go by way ol: Mnrton. The train which left New Plymouth at 7.10 p.m. on Wednesday arrived in Auckland, at 3.7 p.m. yesterday.
