"OPEN HOUSE" PARTY

Y.W.C.A. ACTIVITIES To mark the _ commencement of its activities for the year, an "open house" party was given by the Young Women's Christian Association last night. Proceedings opened with a mannequin parade, for which Miss Judy Kissin was commentator, and this was followed by a second parade, in which were represented all the activities of the association under the headings of sport, clubs, health and recreation, social clubs, and the hostel. Also represented were the war services groups covering a nursing division, first aid, emergency cupboard work, concert party for troops, knitting and sewing group, study group, international club and intercession group. In referring to this section of the association's work, the general secretary, Miss Elsie Bennet, appealed urgently for more volunteers. She also stated that the association would, this year, concentrate on training for leadership, both recreational and club, and certain extension work. A welcome to all present was extended by the club president, Mrs. M. Rudd. Recruiting booths were set up in the lounge outside the assembly hall, where members registered in the different sections at the conclusion of the performance.
