DEEP-SEA FISHING

MAYOR ISLAND CATCHES [by telegraph—own correspondent] TAURANGA, Wednesday A number of deep-sea fish have been taken recently in Mayor Island waters. Mr. W. Hartgill secured striped marlin of 2501b. and 2801b., while Mr. S. Humphreys caught a similar fish of 30.51b.

Mr. H. Smith took a thresher shark of 4901b., while Miss Templer, of England, landed a striped marlin of .1121b. M iss Davies. of England, captured four fish, including a 2801b. striped marlin and a 4301b. thresher shark.
