TIMARU WEDDING

WILSON—ELWORTHY BRIDE'S CLASSICAL GOWN MAIDS IN IVORY CHIFFON [from oun own correspondent] TIMARU, Tuesday A wedding of wide interest to many friends in both i;lie North and South Islands was celebrated .at St. Mary's Church, Timaru, this afternoon, when Miss Diana Elworthy, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Elworthy, Gordon's Valley, Timaru, and granddaughter of the late Archbishop Julius and Mrs. Julius, was married to Mr. James Glenny Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Wilson, of Burleigh Station, Bulls.

The bride wore a beautiful gown of old ivory bridal satin fashioned on classical lines with a long, graceful train. The corsage, sot into a pointed panel, was finished at the neckline with a deep border of ripple-wave sherring. Her tulle veil was worn with a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of begonias and tuberoses.

.Til attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Decima Ormond (Hawke's Bay), Miss Cynthia Wilson (Bulls) and Miss Carlisle Studholme (Waimate). They made a charming group in picture frocks of ivory chiffon mounted on cream taffetas, with pleated bodices and short sleeves. They wore ivory Juliet caps and carried bouquets of pasteltinted mixed flowers.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Denis Herriek as best man, and Mr. John Riddiford and Mr. George Holieston acted as groomsmen. Following the ceremony a reception was held at Gordon's Valley. To receive hor guests Mrs. Elworthy wore a graceful gown of silver-grey chiffon and a navy hat swathed with grey ostrich plumes. She carried a bouquet of crimson roses. Mrs. Wilson, mother of the bridegroom, wore a black ensemble with a laco cape and a black hat. Her bouquet was of pink carnations. The bride travelled in a dusky pink Angora wool bolero suit, with a hat of matching material. YOUNG—RYAN The wedding was celebrated at the Holy Trinity Church, Devonport, on February 3 of Miss June Ryan, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Ryan, of Cambridge Terrace, Devonport, and Bombadier Frederick Young, 13th Heavy Battery, second son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Young, of Swanson. The bride was attended by Miss Mary Clark and Miss Moira Ryan. Bombadier Leslie Young acted as best man. Following the ceremony, a reception for relatives and close friends was held at the home of the bride's parents. The bride travelled in a frock of black sheer and a black picture hat.
