DEATH OF OARSMAN

Jn his youth a prominent oarsman, and later one of the country's recognised leading coaches, John Fuller died in Christchurch last week. Ho first came into the sporting limelight when he played for Canterbury against Stoddart's 3888 team, the first English Rugby combination to visit this country. Rowing, however, was his principal interest. In bis active days he was a member of the well-known Fullers' champion four (all brothers) at the end of the century. He coached the Canterbury Club's crews for nearlv 'JO years and was a life-member of the club. In 3 000 he produced the winners of the New Zealand champion fours and the doubles sculls.
