PROPOSED NEW FACILITIES SKETCH PLANS PREPARED Preliminary sketch plans have been prepared for bathing sheds and other facilities which aro to bo erected by the Auckland Harbour Board at Okahu Bay, a statement by tho chairman, Mr. W. B. Darlow, at a niceting of the board yesterday. A report by the Works Committee on the plans will bo- considered by tho board in committee at an earlv date.

11l a report, Mr. Darlow recalled negotiations with the Minister of Marine, the Hon. P. Eraser, concerning the dovelopnient of the Orakei boat harbour. Last June the board had agreed to a scheme under which the Minister would prqclaim as a domain controlled by the board the strip qf land between the roadway and highwater mark in Okalm Bay oil condition that the board established and maintained suitable bathing sheds and conveniences.

Wlfen he visited Okahu Bay with the Minister last month the latter had expressed surprise apd regret that tho bathing sheds had not been erected, Mr. Darlow added. He hod therefore pointed out that this was principally due to the fact tlujt the Minister's department had not conveved control of the area to the board, which, consequently, had no power to expend money on the area. The Minister sold he would have the matter attended to and asked tho board to proceed immediately with the construction work. Preliminary plans had therefore been prepared. The chairman's report was adopted.
