MATCH BETWEEN WOMEN WELLINGTON BEATS CANTERBURY [IIV TKLF.CRAI'H —PRKSB ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, Monday The Wellington women cricketers warded off a challenge from Canterbury for thellally-burton-Johnstonc! Shield, the match ending to-day in a win for tho home team by five wickets. The superiority of Wellington's fielding was the deciding factor. Canterbury made 107 and Wellington replied with 132. In its second innings Canterbury made U2 and Wellington passed its opponent's total in tho lato stages of to-day's play.
