TOO OLD AT FIFTY-FIVE
Sir, —Why it is that, while the retiring age in other Government Departments is G5, competent applicants for temporary positions in the Military Accounts Department must not ho OVGI 55? There can be no interference with pensions of seniority grading. Government and other conditions in New Zealand make it impossible to obtain employment between <ls and pensionable age at 60. Could not the hiatus between 55 and 60 be filled in this case and fit and hearty men compu.sorily on the .shelf in this country be given a chance to do something? Fifty-eight.
