SEAMEN ENTERTAINED
FLYING ANGEL MISSIONS Men of the mercantile marine whose ships were in port during the ' Now Year week-end wore entertained by the Flying Angel Missions to Seamen at functions which extended over .three days. On Sunday Holy Communion was celebrated in the Mariners' Chapel, and in the afternoon 40 seamen loft on a sightseeing tour of the city and beaches. After festive tea at the institute there was a New Year's Eve service in the chapel, for which extra accommodation was required. Tlio evening concluded with musical items and supper, provided by the Ladies' Harbour Lights Guild.. A picnic held at Ferndale on New Year's Day was attended by 56 seamen. games and sports being included in the programme. Nearly 100 wore present at the gala entertainment held in* the evening. A cricket match was played at Victoria Park yesterday by teams selected from the crews of ships in port, and in the evening there was a dance and concert.
