NURSING CADETS
QUEEN VICTORIA SCHOOL THE ANNUAL INSPECTION The annual inspection of the Queen Victoria Maori Girls' College Cadet Nursing Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade took place on Thursday afternoon, the parade being under the command of tho Lady Cadet Superintendent, Miss Summerhayes. The inspection was conducted by Mr. C. J. Tunks, commissioner for the Auckland district, who was accompanied by District Officer F. E. Schofield and Lady Corps Officer Mrs. E. McDowell. Visiting officers were District Officer U. Hitchon, Nurse H. Scott and Mrs. Colwill, vice-president of the division. Besides passing examinations in first aid and homo nursing, several members passed in cooking, handicraft, physical exercises and games, and they were congratulated 011 their efficiency and general bearing by tho commissioner. Two cadets have left and are now training in the Waikato Hospital, and another will go into training in the Auckland Hospital next year. The visitors were entertained with Maori action and farewell.songs. Mrs. McDowell was appointed Lady Corps Officer in charge of nursing cadets in 15M4. and since she has been in charge of this branch of the brigade work, cadet divisions have increased by five, the latest addition being the Rotorua Cadet Nursing Division, which was formed this year. The other four were formed in 19:.!6.
