WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS
WIDE VARIETY PROVIDED SUMMER GAMES IN PROGRESS A wide variety of sporting events will be held during the week-end. At Eden Park this afternoon the fourth series of matches in the Auckland Cricket Association's senior championship will be commenced. Middlemore will have University as its opponent on No. 3 wicket, while Ponsonby-Balmoral and Grafton will meet on No. 4. The second round of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Bowling Association's inter-club pennant competition will be held to-day. The Auckland Lawn Tennis Association's interclub competitions in the open grade will start to-day at the Stanley Street courts, when two fixtures will be played. The second of a series of Sanders Cup trials for 14ft. Jellicoe class boats will start off St. Mary's boat harbour at 2 p.m. The Richmond Yacht Club, the Manukau Yacht and Motor-boat Club and the Manukau Cruising Club will also hold races.
The social club of the New Zealand Institute for the Blind' will hold its annual sports meeting at the Auckland Grammar School ground this afternoon. All the competitors at this meeting are blind. Other features of interest will be various athletic club meetings, baseball games and golf competitions.
