GUARANTEED PRICE SCHEME
Sir, —It is strange but true that amid all the anxiety and fear for the future experienced by the primary producers some few still take the short, or present, view regarding the temporary benefit that arose from the institution by the Government of the above scheme. Your correspondent "Woman Who Milks Cows" is apparone who cannot appreciate the menace of this socialist scheme. In reading the Parliamentary Reports, I noticed that, among others competent to express an opinion, the Hon. Mr. Carrington stated in Parliament on July 19 last: "There is not a shadow of a doubt to a logical thinker that the guaranteed price scheme, whereby the Minister responsible can not only take the farmer's .product, but determine -what the Government will pay him for it, is not only Socialism, but Communism. The Government's de> clared objective is the socialisation of the means of production, distribution and exchange. Those who are best qualified to express an opinion, Lenin and Stalin, have stated that this is the first phase of Communism. The guaranteed price scheme contains the essential basis of the State confiscation of the products concerned. And this essential basis underlies all Communism."
Your correspondent should pause awhile and think deeply of the future of primary producers in this country. 1 Patriotic Milker.
