SCHOOL AT 65 YEARS

MAORI SEEKS ADMISSION REQUEST NOT APPROVED An unusual application from a Maori aged 65 for permission to be admitted to a school was dealt with by the Auckland Education Board at its meeting yesterday. A letter was received from the teacher at the school to whom application was made, requesting the board's opinion on tlio matter. It was stated that the Maori was quite illiterate and had not received any previous education. He desired to commence in primer 1. Apart from the aspect of having a person not eligible under school rules for admission, tho teacher thought that it was not desirable to have a man in the same classroom as his grandchildren. It was decided to endorse the teacher's opinion.
