EXCELLENT CONCERT
VICTORIA LEAGUE GIRLS FUNDS FOR MAORI SCHOLAR Bright entertainment was provided for members of the Victoria League and their friends who attended a concert given by the Young Contingent in tho league rooms last night. "The proceeds of tho concert will bo donated toward the education of a Maori scholar. The programme, which was arranged by Miss Ela Hutchison, comprised a pleasing variety of humorous items and music, the latter being contributed by Mrs. Reginald Reed, who gave pianoforte solos; Mrs. Humfrey Gordon and Miss Joan Moody, who sang; and Mrs. Dixon, who played violin solos. Humour was provided in a sketch by Miss Mary Pilliington. A one-act play entitled "A Seat in the Park" was produced by Miss Iloseanne Lovell and acted by Mrs. F. Jones, Miss Peggi Cruickshank, Mr. W. Sme'e, Mr. F. Jones and Ron and Marjorie Jones, while a playette "Sketching in Sussex" by H. Sequeira, was produced bv Miss Edna De Marr and acted by Miss Do Marr and Mrs. Dellavaris. Another excellent item was a mime entitled "Clementina," produced by Miss Mavis MeCulloch. In this the singer was Mrs. Humfrey Gordon, while the miming was dono by Miss Margaret Parkinson and Miss Peggi Cruickshank. Mrs. Reginald Reed was the accompanist. The chairman of the league and of the Young Contingent, Mrs. L. S. Rickerby, presided.
