METHODIST SYNOD
POSITION OF MISSIONS SATISFACTORY REPORTS A satisfactory position in the Home and Maori Missions work was shown in reports presented yesterday at the Auckland synod of the Methodist Church. Other subjects discussed included the annual report on Trinity Theological College, presented by the principal, the Rev. Dr. H. Ranston. The need for a greater number of candidates for the ministry was stressed by different speakers. Reference was also made to the success of Mr. M. Winiata, the first Maori to complete the full theological training for the ministry. Regret was expressed at the retirement from the staff of Trinity College of the Rev. C. H. Laws, and the retirement in 1941 of the principal, Dr. Ranston. Both had been on the staff for 20 years.
