FIXATION OF RATES RAIL SERVICES WITHDRAWN [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WANGANUI, Tuesday "I want it clearly understood, in so far as the authority is concerned, that operators will not bo allowed to tako advantage of the absence of the railway road services to build up their own business," said Mr. P. Skoglund, No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority, at a public sitting here to-day, when referring to those goods services belonging to private. operators which had been allowed to continue operating since certain railways roads services, for reasons already explained, had been withdrawn from tho roads. Mr. Skoglund said it was intended that those operators should continue as in the Dast and a tariff schedule would be available soon, probably within tho next fortnight. The rates would bo rail rates plus 5 per cent to cover the picking up and setting down of goods at each end.
