WOOL PURCHASE
NO APPRAISEMENT START STILL DELAYED DISCUSSIONS ON DETAILS ACTIVITY IN THE STORES Since the Government and the Woolbuyers' Association agreed on a basis for the appraisement of this season's wool clip it is disclosed that there have been steady discussions on details in an endeavour to reach a complete agreement. This further delay in the start of appraisement of the wool could hardly have been anticipated, and farmers have been steadily sending forward supplies. Accumulations of wool in Auckland stores havo risen to between 12,000 and 14,000 bales.
Since brokers were advised over a week ago of conditions of classification there has been intense activity in the stores. Classification operations have made possible the engagement of seasonal casual labour, and stores now appear to be fully manned.
The condition of the wool is an improvement on that of last season, it is stated. Supplies from the Waikato are inclined to show signs of dust, but this tendency is not nearly so noticeable as it was last year. On the farms fine weather has meant uninterrupted shearing. Not all growers are despatching clips when baled to the stores, however. Some are reported to be retaining their wool until they are satisfied that all points under the Government's commandeer have been determined, but in spite of this tendency the supplies coming forward are heavy enough to prove an embarrassment at times in the stores.
