"PAMPERED" SOLDIERS
Sir, —Are not many of the complaints regarding military camps very trivial? Do we really appreciate the fact that the world is once again at war, and that we arc not "playing" at soldiers. I would suggest that the men in the camps are infinitely better off than very many men outside the camps. They arc living under far better and far healthier conditions than are many old age pensioners in this and in other cities of New Zealand. There have been suggestions made that the men should have free railway passes, freo travelling on the trams. Why not free "taxis"? It has been said by one of your correspondents that most of the men come from good homes (granted) and that they are not yet accustomed to waxconditions. I would suggest that they never will become accustomed to war conditions as long as they continue to be petted, pampered and coddled. Ihe nation is at war; let us bear that fact in mind. A. H. Mkad. late N.Z.E.F.
