WET CANTEENS
DECISION PENDING EXPECTED THIS WEEK PROVISION FOR SOLDIERS It is expected that the Cabinet /will decide, possibly this week, to establish wet canteens in the military camps in •New Zealand. The necessary authority, it is stated, can bo obtained by invoking the Emergency Regulations Act to effect the suspension of Section 59 of the Defence Act, 1909, which prohibits the taking of alcoholic liquor into aify camp or place of military exercise. As with tho dry canteens, control mav be invested in the Marketing Division. Where an additional building has to be erected in any ° the camps for the wet careens the course will probably be adopted of having the dry canteen at one end an the wet canteen at the other, With tables and chairs in the centre. •Equipment of the wet section, it IS stated, will follow that of the ordinary licensed hotel. The buildings Will probably be erected near the shopblocks" and cafeterias, which are also being provided for some of the campb.
